The Shaded, or Burmilla, is the original Asian variety and may either be silver based or non-silver. The undercoat of a silver cat is pure white whereas a non silver has an ivory or beige undercoat. Any degree of colour shading down the hair shaft is allowed. All Burmillas will show some tabby markings on their heads, tail, legs and some ghost markings may be seen on the body especially in kittens, and these can be either classic, spotted, ticked or mackerel. Burmillas can be in any one of the accepted Asian colours from black to the palest lilac or even tortie.

In FIFE only silver Burmillas and tipped are recognised. The tipped cat appears essentially white with just the very tips of the coat coloured. All colours except Caramel are accepted
